The Community Climate Network
The Community Climate Network is the network for Climate Action Groups and people interested in climate change issues all over Australia. The groups work in their own local areas on actions to raise the awareness of the community, business, and politicians on the dangers of climate change, as well as lobby politicians at all levels. Many groups combine with other groups on state-wide and national campaigns to more effectively bring about change.
A major task of the CCN is to organise annual Climate Action Summits, the last of which was held at Melbourne University. To see the outcomes of past Summits, including a communique that was compiled and some of the keynote speeches, click here. Summits bring together concerned climate activists to engage in workshops, climate change education, networking, campaign report-backs, and planning and strategising for the year ahead.
The CCN is a means of increasing communication between states across Australia and between Climate Action Groups (CAGs). Within the CCN is the Network Facilitation Group (NFG). The NFG acts as an organisational body for the CCN. Its role is to promote effective and regular communication in the network, and to support state-based and regional networks. Each state and territory has the ability to nominate up to three representatives on the NFG. The NFG meets regularly via a phone link-up, hosted in turn by the states and territories.
We face a climate emergency. Our vision is to work together at emergency speed to restore, in a just way, a safe climate in time for all people, all species, and all
To build a diverse, participatory grassroots climate action movement; support the exchange of knowledge, skills, and resources; implement the outcomes of national Climate Action Summits; and to facilitate major campaigns.
